MiDAESS, ERC, and You
1. What is MiDAESS?
MiDAESS is the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA’s) acronym for their new series of support services contracts – MDA Engineering and Support Services. Managed through their MiDAESS Program Office, MDA will acquire virtually all of their Acquisition and Advisory Services (A&AS) through this series of MiDAESS contracts.
2. How is the series of contracts within MiDAESS partitioned?
MiDAESS contracts are being awarded in six (6) Functional Capability Groups (FCGs):
- 1. Acquisition Support
- 2. Engineering Support
- 3. Infrastructure and Deployment Support
- 4. Agency Operations Support
- 5. Security and Intelligence Support
- 6. Quality, Safety, and Mission Assurance (QSMA) Support
ERC’s MiDAESS prime contract is one of five prime contracts that were awarded in the Engineering Support FCG, Full and Open domain.
3. Who is currently performing the work that will be acquired through the MiDAESS contracts going forward?
MDA is currently using hundreds of contract vehicles to obtain thousands of A&AS contractor support personnel. The vast majority of the A&AS work supporting MDA Programs through these hundreds of vehicles today will be performed under the series of MiDAESS contracts going forward.
4. If I support an MDA Program through one of these hundreds of contracts today, and the company I work for has been awarded a MiDAESS prime contract (or is a teammate to a company that won a MiDAESS prime contract), will I be able to continue to perform the work I am performing today with my current employer under one of the MiDAESS contracts?
Not necessarily. All work flowing through the MiDAESS contracts will initially be competed among MiDAESS prime contract awardees through numerous Task Orders. The MiDAESS prime contractor awarded a Task Order will be responsible for performing all of the work associated with that Task Order. The prime contractor will use personnel from within their company (existing personnel and/or new hires) and MiDAESS teammate personnel to fulfill work requirements of the Task Order.
ERC’s MiDAESS Team will compete for all Task Orders issued under the Engineering FCG -- Full and Open domain. We are interested in receiving resumes and applications from anyone qualified to fill positions on these Task Orders, including personnel currently supporting MDA programs through the numerous contract vehicles from which the work will transfer.
5. Why ERC?
ERC recognizes that it is our employees to whom we owe our success. Therefore we work diligently to abide by our purpose statement, which is simple and straightforward:
TO OUR PEOPLE: We will significantly enhance the quality of life for our employees and their families.
TO OUR CUSTOMERS: Because we take care of and enable our employees, we help them do their best for our customers.
Central to our company culture is our Servant Leadership management model, in which ERC managers understand their job is to nurture and support our employees they serve – not the other way around. This model drives satisfaction and engagement in our workforce, which translates to highly competent and hospitable service to our customers. In our last annual employee satisfaction survey, conducted in November 2010, 98% of respondents said they would recommend ERC as an employer to their friends.
Each year, our CEO, President, and Program Managers receive hundreds of unsolicited emails and letters from our employees, like the ones below, expressing their appreciation for ERC’s family values.
“Today was my 20th year of working on the base and I can honestly say ERC is by far the best company I’ve worked for.” – Phillip Farrish, ERC Family Member at Redstone Arsenal
“I do not feel like an employee number but a family member of ERC. Your vision for the future is one that makes us all work harder and continue giving you our best.” – Bob Shaffner, ERC Family Member at Johnson Space Center
